Did you know that, on the night of December 24th, people in Norway are hiding all the brooms to prevent witches and evil spirits from taking over?
Long ago, the Norwegian people believed that Christmas Eve was when witches and mischievous spirits came out to play.
Now, witches and spirits can’t just walk around like you and I – they need some form of transportation to fly from place to place.
Believing that brooms were their favored mode of transport, Norwegian families would hide all the brooms in the house before the trouble-makers arrived to steal them.
The tradition continues to this day.
