Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo added a hat-trick in Tuesday night’s 4-0 victory over Getafe and is now just one goal short of the fifty mark in all competitions, and just three goals away from breaking the top flight record of 38 league goals, set by Athletic Bilbao striker Telmo Zarra in 1950-51 and equalled by Madrid’s Hugo Sanchez in 1989/90.
Ronaldo’s 49 goals make him the leading Real Madrid scorer in a single season, overtaking the legendary Ferenc Puskas’ tally of 47 in the 1959-60 campaign.
However, during his latest goal rampage, he accidentally injured a fan who was sitting in the first row. Ronaldo cleared the ball in the 16th minute and nailed a fan in the face, giving him a bloody nose. After the match, famous striker walked over to the stands and handed the fan his shirt as an apology.
