Aston University Tower Blocks Blown to Pieces, Students Cheer (Video)

Twin accommodation blocks at Aston University in central Birmingham, built in seventies, were demolished in a controlled explosion to make way for the second phase of a new £215 million student village development.

Part of the 1,500 students cheered during the process as they observed the operation on big screens.

The old towers will be replaced by new en-suite accommodation for 1,050 students and a number of business units to help encourage investment in the Eastside area of the city, reports Birmingham Mail.

Alice Cooper anyone: School’s out for summer, school’s out forever, school’s been blown to pieces!
