The 9-month-old orangutan named Boo, the first baby orangutan to be born in captivity in 20 years, made his first public appearance at the Madrid zoo.
Boo’s mother died of lung disease in February, so Boo now gets his milk from a baby bottle (orangutans drink maternal milk for two to three years).
Boo also spends three hours a day with his adoptive mother and Ms Maria Delclaux, a conservationist at the zoo, says he is learning from her, reports SMH.
Still, Madrid keepers face the challenge of reintegrating Boo among other orangutans. Fingers crossed.
